The steroid tainted baseball players have tarnished what 99% of what all great athletes have committed their lives to and that is excellence and perseverance. One of the most important functions a famous sports figure represents is a valued image for our young folks. Our youth need heroes, and today's sports figures are an essential element of the goals young people set for themselves. I salute all of the heroes in the sports fields who took the old fashion path of blood, sweat and tears.
